I can say I truly love application software. If we get a new release around here, we all want to load it first and "play" with it. Well, Archicad 15 arrived and I had that opportunity of being the first to load and check it out. Love. I am in love with ArchiCAD 15. There is a new feature called, SHELL, that allows you to create about any form or design you would like to. What is great about SHELL is that it works great with everything else as well. Through the new CONNECT feature you can connect a SHELL to a ROOF or TRIM it using almost anything. This is just one small example of what is great about ArchiCAD 15. You need to play with it to appreciate how easy it is to create the unique designs that ArchiCAD users are so famous for.
Soon after we received ArchiCAD 15 we received ArchiMAG, "the international ArchiCAD users' magazine". There was a fascinating interview with a gentleman named, Bradley Khouri from B9 Architects in Seattle, Washington. Bradley worked on a project called, Judkins Park House, that was to occupy the former driveway of a farmhouse. He did such an awesome job that the award winning house sold in only 2 weeks. You know it had to be a space challenge to build in such a small area. He said, "I chose materials for their recycled content. The floors are made of renewable bamboo for example and the ground outside is covered in a pervious paving system that prevents runoff. Shower and bathtub water is collected and used in the toilets using a grey-water recycling tank."
The renderings show an inviting ultra modern design that anyone would enjoy.
When talking about the software he mentioned he starts his projects and finishes his projects with ArchiCAD. Imagine that. No other software needed. He ends by stating, "ArchiCAD is so easy to use - which makes my work a lot less demanding".
